The Crash of '09
05/18/09 at 17:36:55

Thank you for sticking with us during the Crash of '09.  For those of you who have been around for a while, you might remember just about a year ago nudeinsf.com crashed for several days as well.

When we first started we of course needed to do everything as cheaply as possible.  That meant finding the cheapest ISP we could.  We went with DWHS.net, which turned out to be a HUGE mistake.  They are the worst ISP imaginable.  Last year the problem was that a disgruntled employee hacked into _their_ servers and deleted all their backups.

They have almost non-existent support.  Although they claim to have support 24/7, the truth is they have no one available on the weekend at all!  On Friday, one of those password sharing sites somehow got a hold of one of our passwords.  The result was we were slammed, and our normal monthly allotment of bandwidth was eaten up in just a few hours.  That caused the Bandwith Exceeded error.

The problem is the people at DWHS are such incompetent a-holes, no one was there to help us expand our bandwidth to get us back on line.  So we sat there for two days waiting for a reply.

We finally bit the bullet on Saturday and moved our servers to a new ISP.  We should never have a bandwidth problem again, and the new ISP does indeed have 24/7 support, so if anything goes wrong in the future they will be able to fix it.

Most of the files have been transferred, but some of the file permissions still need to be tweaked.  Right now we are at about 70%.  We should be back to full strength shortly.  Thank you for your patience!

This crash was the inevitable consequence of growing pains.
